Initial Visit

Please inform the receptionist taking your booking if your appointment is a lactation consultation.

A lactation consultation usually involves an assessment of the mother and baby. During this consultation Dr Anita Bearzatto will take a detailed history and perform a relevant examination of you and your baby.

For those babies referred for tongue tie assessment, a history and examination of the breastfeeding mother is usually also performed, as this may help to determine whether further management of the tongue tie is required.

If possible present with your baby ready to feed as in most cases a breastfeed will be observed during the consultation (but please do not hold off on a feed if your baby is upset).
